FAQs
Functionality / Usage
What is a business question?
A business question is a tactical question your business would like to answer through consumer insights. It should be specific, so the more you can narrow it down, the better. Examples could include:
“Why is usage of anti-ageing cream declining? What are the key barriers and how does this compare with those under 30 vs. over 30?”
“How do pet owners judge the ‘healthiness’ of the food they buy their pets? How should we position our product to align it with the perception of ‘healthiness’ in this space?”
“Would residents be supportive of a council run e-scooter initiative in their area? How do they envision this impacting their lives and what aspects of it would be most appealing?”
“What is my brand known for among older consumers and why does it perform poorly among this age group compared to these specific competitors?”
What is the difference between SBX and its competitors?
The difference between SBX and other self-serve research tools is that they often require you to write your own questionnaire from scratch and conduct your own analysis on the data.
In addition to this, other providers use standard static survey questions to gather high-level responses from consumers. SBX, on the other hand, uses conversational AI techniques to probe consumers in real time and obtain richer and more accurate insights.
Lastly, many research providers offer either quantitative data or qualitative data. Whereas, SBX offers the certainty of quant with the nuance of qual by collecting and coding open-text responses at scale.
Can I define my target audience?
Yes. Our co-pilot tool will ask you to specify who you would like to survey and you can provide a detailed breakdown of the audience you’d like to target. It is important to note that our rapid turnaround times are dependent on the incidence rate of your chosen audience being at least 10% of the general population. If the incidence rate is lower than 10%, we’ll get in touch with you to discuss what is and isn’t achievable and how this might impact the turnaround time.
What markets does SBX support?
SBX supports a total of 22 markets and this number is constantly growing. At the moment, the supported markets include Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam. We’ll update this as more markets are added to our list.
Do you have your own panel and how do you incentivise them?
Yes. We have an active worldwide community of consumers, which we tap into for our surveys. In addition to this community, we also leverage third party panel providers from time to time to top up samples when needed.
Our community is actively managed and our respondents are paid for their answers. Typically, we pay the equivalent of $1 per submission, but this can vary depending on the type of audience we’re targeting and how niche they are.
If you’d prefer to use your own customer base, as opposed to our community, this is something we offer through SBX Direct.
What question formats and materials are supported in your surveys?
Our surveys support both closed-text and open-text questions. Using the eight years of research data it has been trained on, along with a series of defined use cases, the bot will recognise the key elements of your brief and will generate a survey plan with relevant questions to meet your needs. However, you will also have the opportunity to add up to three specific questions of your own to any of our standard use cases.
Regarding materials, we can show pictures and videos to our community of respondents and can then ask them questions about these materials. This functionality will also be available on SBX Direct very soon, so you’ll be able to show pictures and videos to your own customer base.
Data / Security
Am I giving my data to OpenAI by using SBX?
No. All data processed by Streetbees complies with the legal requirements of GDPR, including where we make use of a data processor such as OpenAI.
Streetbees has also signed a data processing agreement with Open AI. As part of this agreement, Streetbees has opted out of giving Open AI permission to use the data for any other purpose than fulfilling Streetbees' request. As we continue to add new AI service providers, we will ensure this obligation is a requirement.
As such, you are not giving your data to OpenAI.
How does this differ from simply using ChatGPT?
SBX has been built using years of research briefs and reports that have been co-created with clients. As a result, it is instilled with best practice market research frameworks and approaches and will therefore use these to generate a brief and survey plan for you that meets the expected high standard. In contrast, ChatGPT will use generic data from the internet to create a brief or survey for you, resulting in less relevant content and lower quality outputs.
In addition, all of the answers you see in your SBX report will be grounded in data that has been collected specifically for you in relation to your brief. This fresh, primary research will have been conducted with our community of consumers or with your own customer base and will have been designed specifically to meet your needs. ChatGPT, on the other hand, is unable to conduct primary research and would therefore provide more generic answers to your question, which have been pulled from existing research and unvetted sources.
AI / Technology
Is there any human intervention?
Yes. To ensure strict quality control throughout the process, we incorporate human review into the following parts of the project.
- Brief generation. At this initial stage, you will have the ability to review, edit and approve your brief once it has been generated to ensure it’s aligned to your business question.
- Survey plan. Once the brief has been approved, our experts will review the survey plan before it’s launched to ensure we’re capturing the key areas needed to address your business question.
- Report generation. Once the report has been generated, our experts will review this to ensure the data is correct and the insights drawn are accurate before it is then released to you.
What is conversational AI and how does it work?
At Streetbees, we’ve always believed that taking a conversational approach to collecting data is the best way to get real, unfiltered insights into how consumers think and act. Because of this, we’ve always designed our research studies to be as free flowing and conversational as possible.
With the recent improvements in artificial intelligence, we have now been able to take this approach a step further by harnessing conversational AI. By combining the power of LLMs with the wealth of research experience we have in the team, we have built and trained a conversational AI chatbot to function as a skilled interviewer.
This chatbot is able to interpret what consumers say in real time and respond accordingly. It’s also able to generate relevant follow-up questions to probe consumers and can react to nuanced answers consumers might give that go beyond the scope of the initial brief. All of this enables us to capture richer and more accurate responses and provide our clients with qualitative insights at quantitative scale. Something that simply hasn’t been possible in the world of market research until now.
